Blonde Joke Monday: How many sheep do I have?

There once was a blonde who was very tired of blonde jokes and insults directed at her intelligence.

So, she cut and dyed her hair, got a make-over, got in her car, and began driving around in the country.

Suddenly, she came to a herd of sheep in the road. She stopped her car and went over to the shepherd who was tending to them.

"If I can guess the exact number of sheep here, will you let me have one?" she asked.

The shepherd, thinking this was a pretty safe bet, agreed.

"You have 171 sheep," said the blonde in triumph.

Surprised, the shepherd told her to pick out a sheep of her choice.

She looked around for a while and finally found one that she really liked.

She picked it up and was petting it when the shepherd walked over to her and asked, "if I can guess your real hair color, will you give me my sheep back?"

The blonde thought it was only fair to let him try. "You're a blonde! Now give me back my dog."

Tagged, Again??!! Eight Random Facts You Probably Don't Want to Know About Me

My blog buddy Danielle tagged me a few days ago with the 8 Random Facts meme. I’ve been out of pocket lately due to offline activities. Quite frankly, I’ve been tagged several times before and didn’t think I could come up with anything new.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1.
I have to post these rules before I give you the facts.
2. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
5. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  1. I operated a lemonade stand on the weekends when I was a kid.

  1. I don’t like to be interrupted when I’m watching Law & Order --- even the re-runs.

  1. I was a tomboy but I liked playing with dolls too.

  1. I don’t like syringes. It’s so bad that until I was 18, my mom had to hold my hand when a doctor or nurse withdrew blood from me or gave me an injection.

  1. I have low blood pressure.

  1. My parents bought my first car for me, a 1974 Ford Pinto, when I was 17. My friends and I were all over the city in it.

  1. I was stalked by a middle-aged guy when I worked part-time as a cashier in the neighborhood grocery store while I was in high school. That was the first time I was ever really afraid.

  1. I wanted to be a Boy Scout. They seemed to have much more fun than the Girl Scouts. My dad was a troop leader; I learned the Boy Scout oath and read their magazine religiously. Of course that was back in the day, the Girl Scouts are a really cool organization now.

I surprised myself and came up with these tidbits. Each time I participate in this type of exercise, I remember some part of my past that had been buried. It’s always fun.

Don’t worry, I’m not tagging anyone.

Thought for the Day: Be Who You Must Be

Be Who You Must Be

Diarmuid Cronin

I don’t know where you are on your path
I have never stood in your shoes
I see not with your eyes.
I know not what your purpose is here
In this stage of your evolution
But I feel blessed to know you
As you are not in my life by chance
And you are my teacher
As I hope you learn from me
I pray I show reverence to you
I pray not to judge you
I wish to let you be
Who you are
Who you dream of being
I will just be beside you
And watch you grow
And the day will come for sure
When we will know why
Our paths crossed this way
And until then my friend
Be who you must be

The Murder of Jessie Marie Davis

Jessie_marie_davis The murder of Jessie Davis and her unborn daughter is unbelievably sad. My heart aches for her son, parents and loved ones. As the case developed, Davis’ boyfriend, police officer Bobby Cutts, became the logical suspect.

Hope that Jessie and baby were alive and well waned with each passing day. Each day, Cutts looked more and more guilty.

Let’s not rush to judgment, right? Remember the Duke Rape Case. Officer Bobby Cutts’ past, replete with numerous affairs, abuse, children out of wedlock and employment sanctions made it illogical to believe or defend him.

On Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 6 PM EST, the world would learn that Bobby Cutts confessed to the murder of Jessie Davis and their unborn child. He also abandoned his 2 year-old son, Blake. A week Thirty hours would pass before someone would visit Jessie’s home and discover Blake home alone. It is because of God’s grace that baby is with us today. Prayerfully, he will remember nothing or very little about his mom’s murder.

Cutts is suspected to have been aided by an accomplice. Thus far, Myisha Ferrell, a friend of Bobby Cutts, has been questioned but not arrested.

We have yet to learn the specifics surrounding Cutts’ confession but let us pray for all of the families involved. Ashe'.

One day remaining on Typepad free trial! Should I stay or should I go?

Chanel2020sold

It's almost down to the wire. There's one day remaining on my TypePad free trial period. Hmmm... Y'all know I have commitment issues but I guess I'll go through with this partnership with TypePad and the folks at Six Apart. This will be the first time I've gone all the way with TypePad. I've tried it a couple of times before.

What changed my mind this time? Well, priority one is time management. TypePad allows me to schedule my blog posts and that is a tremendous plus. Secondly, the flexibility in the blog layout design is awesome. I was able to try on a blog look without any hassle. Oh, and let me not forget two really cool features: pages and continuation posts.

There are a couple of things I wish TypePad did better. One is access and display of archived posts. Currently, the default display is the most current ten months without means of manipulating the display to show all. Blogger does this way better. I could use tips from TypePad Hacks but then I'd be required to use advanced templates and I'd lose some of the user-friendly features. TypePad also doesn't have a page link to posts on the previous page. That may not seem like a big deal but it is. Otherwise it appears as though your posts are limited to the main page and accessing older posts requires too much effort.

Overall, Blogger is easier to use than TypePad and I've decided to keep it for a couple of my blogs. In addition to the plusses already mentioned, TypePad allows substantial flexibility and opportunity for creativity without converting to advanced templates or using custom CSS.

Anyhoo, wish me a happy and healthy relationship with TypePad. I'll keep you posted on my experience. Smooches.

Back to a Vegetarian Lifestyle

Not_nuggets I'm switching back to a vegetarian diet. I'm not going vegan because I need eggs and cheese in my diet right now. I'm considering a vegan lifestyle but I'm taking this in stages.

Unfortunately, I've back-slid on my diet a few times because of convenience. You know, someone brings a pepperoni pizza in this office and there's no time between meetings ---there goes the vegetarian diet.  I can feel the meat slowing down my body. I don't have the energy I'm accustomed to and I'm noticably less productive. Breaking my vegetarian regime usually occurs when I'm under extreme stress as I have been lately.

So, starting today, I'm keeping a journal of everything I eat. Perhaps it will help me stay on task. In a household and office of meat-eaters, my work is cut out for me but I'll get back on track again.

Increase Page Rank through Viralink: Here's Update!

The Viralink I posted a few days ago garnered absolutely no increase in my Technorati rating. I checked the website of this viralink creator, Andy Coates, and saw an update which is posted below.  I'm trying this viralink again with a different grid, this time from Andy's site. Let's see what happens.

From andy-coates.com:

Please restrict your Viralink to 100 stars, it is noted that any 1 page with over 100 outbound links may be recognised as a link farm by google. Or alternativey split your Viralink accross 2 pages.

———copy and paste the Viralink and instructions below this line———

Below is a matrix of 120 stars, I have already added a link to my blog onto one of the stars, all you need to do is copy and paste the grid into your blog and add your own link to one of the other spare stars, and tell others to do the same!

Viralink

********************
********************
********************

********************
********************

When I receive a ping back once you have added the Viralink to your site I will add your link to this grid, and each person who copies the grid from here will also link to your site!

Rules
No Porn Sites
Only 1 link per person (i.e don't hog the viralink!)
Please don't tamper with other peoples url's
Enjoy!

———copy and paste the Viralink and instructions above this line———

How It Works
Just so it is easier to see how this actually works, below is an example of the linking tree. If 3 people copied the above grid into their own browser, added their link and 3 other people copied from them these are the number of backlinks which would be received witht he centre light green circle being this page.

bl1.gif

And if the procedure was repeated and each new person told 3 of their friends, the back links travel back to the source they were added!

bl2.gif

And once again as word gets around and the link tree develops the number of backlinks grows greatly! So at this stage my blog would have 93 backlinks from only 4 levels of "saturation" and by level 5 your blog will also have 93 backlinks if you decide to take part.

bl3.gif

Here are how the numbers add up, I will use the term saturation to describe the spread of the Viralink with Zero being your blog 1 being 1 link down, 2 being 2 links down and so on.

Saturation - Backlinks

0 - 0
1 - 3
2 - 12
3 - 39
4 - 93
5 - 336
6 - 1065
7 - 3252
8 - 9813
9 - 29,496
10 - 88,545

The above numbers rely on 3 people copying and pasting the Viralink onto their blog and that being replicated 3 times continuously 10 times. I think you will agree that the numbers are quite staggering, there are 119 spaces left on the Viralink from this page and I expect that there will be allot of clones which begin to pop up. The best strategy with this is to start early and tell all of your blog partners!

You may be wondering what happens if you are at the end of the chain when the Viralink is full ? What would be the benefit to me? Well there is no reason why you cant add another line of dots to the bottom and keep the process going, or even start another form scratch.

All the best

Andy

Kinky Boots

Kinky_boots_2

I enjoy watching movies; especially, quirky, offbeat independent films. Kinky Boots starring Joel Edgerton, Sarah-Jane Potts and Chiwetel Ejiofor is one of those movies that I can watch over and over again.

If you think you’ve seen enough television shows and movies about drag queens and transvestites, Kinky Boots will surprise you. Not anywhere near as provocative as the title suggests, this movie is a heartwarming comedy based on a true story.

Chiwetel is astonishing as Lola/Simon. The movie could have benefited from more character development but Chiwetel’s range as a actor and singer really steal this movie. This London born actor of Nigerian descent caught my attention as Covey in Stephen Spielberg’s Amistad. I also saw him in Four Brothers, a movie that did nothing to exhibit his talent.

Anyhoo, beg, borrow or steal this movie if you can. You won’t be disappointed. You know I was just kidding about the stealing, right? Smooches!

Blonde Joke Monday: Let's go to DisneyWorld!

Two blondes had driven across the country to see Disney World in Florida.

As they approached it and got onto the final stretch of highway, they saw a sign saying "Disney World Left!"

After thinking for a minute, the driver blonde said "Oh well!" and started driving back home.

FREE GENARLOW WILSON! [Part 3]

Wilson0612inside The Genarlow Wilson case has garnered extensive national media lately. Why the media is so involved now and not during the original sentencing but I’ll let that go for now. Georgia AG Thurbert Baker has attempted to justify his stance in this case but CNN’s Rick Sanchez disputes Baker’s claim that would lead the general public to believe that over 1300 child predators could be released by allowing Wilson to go free.

Sanchez reports that only seven other convicted felons well jailed as youths on the same charge as Genarlow Wilson. Seven, not more than 1300; Baker’s scare tactics won’t work this time.

To make matters worse, the mother of the young woman involved in this case has confessed that she was threatened to testify against Genarlow Wilson. She went on to say that she was ‘visited’ by law enforcement authorities after an article was published stating that she thought Wilson’s punishment was too severe. Do we live in a police state or what?

The state attorney wants to postpone a hearing for Wilson until October. I don’t think so. Public pressure needs to be tightened on Georgia AG Thurbert Baker, Douglasville DA David McDade and Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue.

Genarlow Wilson’s attorney, B.J. Bernstein, says the state attorney’s office is “out of control”. That’s putting it mildly.

What Can You Do?

1) Let District Attorney David McDade and other politicians of the state of Georgia know your outrage with the unjust incarceration of Genarlow Wilson. Sign our online petition demanding his freedom and that he not have to register as a sexual offender.

2) Donate to the Wilson Defense Fund. Monies collected will go to legal expenses and when released, an education fund for Genarlow Wilson.

3) Contact Attorney General Thurbert E. Baker
