How Republicans Shoot Themselves in the Foot

I saw this video over on Dan Gelber’s blog. It is representative of the shiggity the McCain-Palin folks offer as rationale for American voters to support the Republican presidential ticket. It is this strategy that has seen the Republican Party virtually implode. It’s such a shame.

This election is much more about the Republican ticket than it is about McCain-Palin. Republicans in other races are shaking in their boots wondering how the Obama effect influences the down ticket races.

History will record that much of the Republican Party downfall is due to McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin as the vice-presidential candidate. While she energized the Party’s base, for the most part, she was just entertainment.

Barack Obama’s Excellent Adventure

It's almost midnight and I'm watching Senator Barack Obama and President Bill Clinton in Kissimmee, Florida at a rally of I don't know how many people but there are a lot of them. As usual, it's a rainbow coalition and the energy transcends the television screen.

There is no way, unless there is finagling, that McCain-Palin can win this election. Not unless there is foolishness involved, does logic not tell me that Americans overwhelmingly support Obama-Biden. Voters are out in record numbers here in Florida. Polling hours have been extended, young people are voting in numbers never expected, registered Democrats outnumber Republicans and the Obama-Biden Team is campaigning as if they are 20 points behind. They are calling and canvassing neighborhoods to get people to the polls to cast their ballots. Did I mention the team of lawyers who are manning the polls to address any problems that voters may have? This is serious, y'all.

Obama started this evening with that highly anticipated infomercial that was unbelievable. There is no way that anyone with a heart could not have been touched by that presentation of the Obama platform through vignettes on Americans coping with our troubling economy, health care needs, broken promises of funding retirement and improvements needed in education.

I'm not saying that John McCain should throw in the towel but I do sense the continued implosion of his campaign as the November 4th voting date approaches. As McCain continues to try the failed kitchen sink strategy deployed by the Hillary Rodham Clinton campaign during the primary phase, he appears more desperate and less presidential.

We are less than 6 days away from making history. We are not measuring drapes for the White House but we are confident that Americans will do the right thing and vote for change that we all need in America.

Putting the Skinhead Assassination Plot in Perspective

Daniel Cowart and Paul Schlesselman are the latest whack jobs to have their 15 minutes of fame as a result of their plans to kill 88 black people (14 by beheading) and ultimately killing Barack Obama.   Now, we all knew this demographic of nutbags would show themselves eventually.

I was a bit perturbed by the initial media reports indicating that a plot to assassinate Senator Obama had been foiled. Additional research of the situation showed that these two guys had planned to kill 88 people before killing Obama. 88!! Hello, I do believe the headlines should have read something like this, Racially-Motivated Mass Murder Spree and Obama Assassination Plot Foiled. That may not seem like a big deal but it accurately frames the situation. It wasn't just a concern for Barack Obama, it was a concern for black people, period.

It's highly unlikely these guys could have carried out their plan, they'd "met" only a month ago via the internet and planned to don a white top hat and tails while they carried out the murders. Interesting.

Plots such as this are intended to intimidate. I imagine blacks are supposed to be too afraid to vote but that doesn't seem to have affected the massive turnout for early voting in this country.

Cowart and Schlesselman are far too young to buy into this hatred foolishness. These guys don't know the racial struggles this country has overcome except through textbooks or movies. A killing rampage in this country would accomplish what exactly? A few minutes of media attention?

The reality of this presidential election is that Barack Obama has rallied millions of people to support his candidacy. Those people are a diverse group that represent the true face of America. A couple of guys like Cowart and Schlesselman won't defeat the rest of America.

Obama and McCain Dance-off

OK, y'all know that this is one funny video. It's so amazing how the candidates heads are placed on the bodies of the dancers.

I do have one question, why no love for Joe Biden? He should have been in the video too!

Huge Turnout for Barack Obama in Denver

This photo at a Barack Obama rally speaks to the support of his campaign's platform for change that embraced by so many Americans. This crowd is estimated at more than 100,000 people. That's a lot of people and surely enough to make the Republican Party and their operatives run more of those nasty (and desperate) attack ads on Obama.

John McCain’s Rage: Is this for real?

This video was forwarded to me by a friend. I really don't want to believe that it is true. Well, some of the assertions are obvious if one observes Senator Mccain's behavior. The part about back-handing that young woman in the presence of others is hard to believe. I know that he is too impulsive to be POTUS.

No Excuses for Ashley Todd

By now you've heard about the foolishness caused by the false report of an assault on a young, female John McCain supporter. The young lady, a Caucasian, reported that she had been attacked by a black man. Not your average-sized black man but a 6feet 4 inch dark-skinned black man. Now if that's not said to scare the hell out of white women and piss white men off, I don't know what is.

But, in this "post-racial" world that we live in, there will be other incidents such as this. The reality of the aftermath of Ms. Todd's lie is that somewhere in the Philadelphia area where this attack allegedly occurred, black mothers were trying to get their sons home and pray that they were safe from the cops and vigilantes looking for revenge for the victimized Ms. Todd.

Ms. Todd obviously has some psychological issues but she doesn't get a pass for telling a lie and bruising herself. This false accusation crap is old and tired but obviously still effective. How many of you still remember the uproar caused by Susan Smith and Charles Stuart?

While the McCain-Palin campaign doesn't condone such actions by Ms. Todd, they must realize that this is the type of hatred stoked by the flavor of their town hall meetings.

Thankfully, law enforcement doubted Ms. Todd's story from the outset. There could have been a completely different and violent reaction but there wasn't. On the other hand The Drudge Report and Politico.com did but into it and were forced to apologize later.

What happens next with Ashley Todd? I say she needs to be incarcerated for several years and be forced to pay restitution for the cost of law enforcement and other incidentals.

Blocking the Vote

I was reminded that this year's presidential election can still be stolen. Here's a video  fromThe Rachel Maddow Show informing the public of the opportunities to cheat during this election. Please watch and share with your friends. Thanks.

Alaska’s Top Newspaper Endorses Obama

The Anchorage Daily News has endorsed Barack Obama for POTUS. In the opinion of their editorial board, McCain is not the right person to serve as president at this time and neither is their own governor, Sarah Palin.

Alaskans may or may not agree with the editorial board. There are several newspapers that have endorsed Obama. Currently Obama leads in newspaper endorsements 145-55. McCain must be feeling a bit like Hillary Clinton did during the Primary. Obama has consistently outsmarted and out-performed his opponents in spite of their length of time in politics.

As the Political World Turns

I've been volunteering at one of the local Obama-Biden campaign offices so my blogging time has been even more limited. The foolishness and other news that has occurred lately have been fast-paced. Just as I was going to post the Colin Powell interview with "Meet the Press" when he nicely sliced and diced John McCain, then this chick Ashley Todd acts the fool and tries to pull a major punking of American voters by blaming a black man for attacking her. There have been reports of vandalism in neighborhoods regarding yard signs supporting either Obama or McCain. Foolishness.

Let's not forget the cost of outfitting Six Pack Sarah and her crew. Let's see, $150,000 and not a damn thing from Wal-mart? Wonder what Joe the Plumber has to say about that.

The Barack Obama campaign has raised over $700 million and McCain and his operatives criticize him for not participating in the public campaign finance program. Uh huh.

Speaking of Sarah Palin, she seems to be distancing herself from McCain just as he tries to do President Bush. She is openly disagreeing with McCain's position on issues. I do believe that she's campaigning for her next position --- Palin for President in 2012. She is the one drawing the Republican crowds. Hey, that's what happens when you choose a maverick as your running mate. Ha!
