Photo of the Day: Taking Care of Business

Today started off hectic and was stressful up right up until my writing this post. I did get a lot accomplished but there is still a lot to be done.

This photo was taken in the parking lot of the Chase Bank in the Liberty City section of Miami. I finally took the plunge to get my new social media company started and the foundation in the name of my parents. I get first-class treatment at this branch which is why I passed so many banks to get here.

I feel really excited about getting startedalbit I am not starting in an orderly manner. I thought if I didn't do this now, I would continue to postpone it. I'm on it! Gotta go...

2012 Photography Project: Photo of the Day

I am practicing with my Nikon D5100 camera in 2012 and have decided to take and post at least one photo per day for the rest of the year. I’d like to take a photography class but my schedule doesn’t permit that and I’d be kidding myself if I tried to attend regularly scheduled classes. For now, I am following the great tips on Darren Rowse’s photography site, Digital Photography School. I’ve also read a couple of photography books and I question my more experienced photographer friends every chance I get.

Based on the comments of my friends, I’ve taken a few really good shots. My goal is to have photos for my blogs. Yeah, I know I could do that with my trusted point-and-shoot Nikon Coolpix S8100 (I love and still use that camera) but I just wanted more options and to unleash a little more creativity in my life. What can I say, it’s my stress relief. Here you go...

Today’s photo is the public policy manual for sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha. I am the chair of the Social Justice and Human Rights committee for my local chapter so I’ll be using that manual and my iPhone a lot in 2012.

As far as public policy is concerned, we will be involved in many voter empowerment activities in Florida and if you’ve been following politics you know we have an uphill battle considering the suppressive voter registration and voting tactics in place this year. I'll keep you posted.
