8 year-old Miami girl starts food fight with Obama girls in controversial ad

Jasmine Messiah, an 8 year-old student in Miami, is the face of a new campaign by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine to encourage healthier food choices in the nation's schools. Jasmine is a vegetarian and apparently outspoken and spunky according to media coverage.

It's true that the American is generally high in fatty foods. It's also true that the U.S. School Lunch program depends heavily upon surplus foods donated by the government. Fatty foods plus a reduced physical education program in public schools results in kids who are heavier than in the past.

Unfortunately, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine may have crossed the line when targeting the Obama daughters. Sure, they attend a prestigious private school in Washington, DC that offers healthy meal options, but bringing kids of politicians into a lobbying effort in this manner will likely result in a backlash.

Feel Good Friday Video: American Prayer

I love this video and song. I know that this was centered on the 2008 presidential election but the message is still fabulous. Enjoy.

The Obama Economic Stimulus Effect Blesses Five Guys

President Obama at Five Guys Burgers & Fries

Since the President's golden touch seems to be more golden than Oprah's nowadays, the folks at a Five Guys Burgers & Fries in DC must be thrilled he stopped by for sustenance. Of course, he placed his own order and ordered for the crew filming him for a documentary.

This president is intent on living outside the White House bubble as much as possible. He likes to be around people. His security team must be going bonkers with this "regular stuff" the Obamas like to do.

Five Guys, which does have great burgers, must be a favorite of the First Family because the First Lady was also photographed at a Five Guys dining with staffers back in February. Of course, her visit was sans the film crew and as much hoopla.

The Obamas must also have an awesome workout routine because they seem to love burgers but stay in great physical condition.

The President does have some cleaning up to do. It seems it was leaked that he prefers other burgers to the burgers served at the White House. I'd love to attend that White House Kitchen staff meeting.

Oh yeah, the president ordered a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, mustard and jalapenos. It's now unofficially called the "Obama Burger."

Did I mention the doubling of business at that particular Five Guys restaurant the President visited? Yes, that's the Barack Obama Economic Stimulus Effect at work.

Surprise...Surprise...President Obama Picks Sotomayor

Who's kidding who? It was the best kept secret that President Barack Obama would nominate Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court. The President clearly understands the need for diversity on the Supreme Court. That being said, he also understands that the appointment of the next Justice would not compromise the qualifications of the position.

It's not a surprise that a few vocal Republicans have already gone on the attack questioning Sotomayor's intellectual capacity. Give me a break. Is that the best they can come up with? She's a liberal...she's an activist. Is she a socialist also?

Conventional wisdom dictates the Republicans will soon quiet the vocal Party minority that continues to weaken the Party as a whole. This Party of No stuff is really getting old and boring.

White House Correspondents Dinner: Did Wanda Sykes Go Too Far? [VIDEO] [POLL]

The excitement brought to American politics by President Barack Obama continued at the White House Correspondents Dinner Saturday night. There may have been more celebrities in attendance than there were journalists and politicos but President Obama has attained super rock star status. It is what it is.

Much discussion of the evening will probably address the president's comedic style. President Obama's jokes were very good. He's very much reminiscent of late night talk show legend Johnny Carson in his delivery.

On the other hand comedian Wanda Sykes was brutal and, in some cases, brutally honest. Too much so for some people. She ragged on just about everyone in a powerful American political position. Her kidney failure comment about Rush Limbaugh and abstinence comment about Sarah Palin may have crossed the line. What do you think?

Robinson Wins The Pulitzer Prize

Congratulations to The Washington Post's Eugene Robinson on winning the Pulitzer Prize for his commentary during the Barack Obama presidential campaign.

Obama Given Failing Grade Thus Far in MSNBC Poll

There's an ongoing poll on MSBNC asking readers to give President Obama a grade on his performance thus far. As you may know, he is fast approaching the end of his first 100 days as leader of the United States of America.

Here's a snapshot of the voting so far.

These results don't comport with the results of the CNN poll or other poll results I've seen but we'll check the results again Wednesday morning.

If you feel so compelled, vote now. The President's first 100 days expire on Wednesday, April 29; be sure to watch his news conference that evening.

President Obama's Approval Rating

Insanity is doing the same thing the same way over and over again yet expecting different results. Such is the lesson not yet learned by the GOP (especially former Vice President Dick Cheney) when it comes to President Barack Obama's admiration by the rest of the world.

How much longer will the proven ineffective lines of attack be used by the GOP? *Yawn* It's so boring. old and tired.

Arizona State University Disses President Obama

Straight from the "you've got to be kidding" category, Arizona State University (ASU) basically jumped into the "diss Obama" fray. The President has been invited to speak at the University's commencement but he will not be given an honorary degree as expected. The University spokesperson actually indicated they wouldn't give President Obama an honorary degree because he hasn't done enough yet. Huh?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but what is to be gained by such an action? Let's see, Barack Obama was elected President of the United States; John McCain was not. Let's get past this foolishness and work together as Americans.

President Obama has already proven his academic prowess and his accomplishments are well-documented. ASU does itself no favor by withholding an honorary degree from someone as learned as President Obama. The continuous personal attacks on the President rather than addressing issues this country needs to overcome is old, boring, and counterproductive. It also strengthens President Obama's favor with most Americans and the rest of the world.

Hatin’ on the Obamas as They Charm the World [POLL]

Michelle obama2

Many folks in mainstream media have panned President Obama's performance during his recent trip to Europe. He has been called ineffective and pretty much blamed not only for the economic crisis in America but the fragile state of the global economy as well. Check out the interview of CNN's Fareed Zakaria.

The strangest thing is that as much as President Obama was criticized, the people of Europe were mesmerized by him. It may be more accurate to say that they are still mesmerized by him as their adoration of him was apparent during the 2008 presidential election.

The love affair with Barack Obama continues. To compound that issue, First Lady Michelle Obama was equally as charming and well received. Her interaction with the Queen of England was dissected and she was criticized for her attire, the gift given to the Queen and her so-called breach of protocol by touching the Queen.

What will the people in Europe and America likely remember most of all? Mrs. Obama's inspiring and heart-wrenching speech at Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School in London and the young girls who mobbed her just to get a hug. Those are the moments that really "touch" people. Speaking of touching, the Queen released a statement indicating there was no breach of protocol by the First Lady.

The more the media appears to "attack" the Obamas, the more they will endear them to the general public and generate doubt about their own journalistic integrity.

President Obama must be held accountable while he is in office but it does not serve America well to blame him for our current condition as many have tried to do.
