Tina Fey Scores as Sarah Palin --- Again!

The folks over at SNL (Saturday Night Live) are on a roll with their political satire skits. No doubt Tina Fey will win all kinds of awards and accolades for her spot on portrayal of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Each week's skit seems better than the previous week. Last Saturday's opening skit was a parody of the vice-presidential debate with Queen Latifah joining the cast as Gwen Ifill. You're really missing out if you don't watch it all the way through to its conclusion. Enjoy.

Barack Obama Action Figure Great For Collectors

My Barack Obama action figure arrived and it's a definite keeper for Obama fans and collectors. I did remove the figure from its box to test its pose ability.

There's movement in the arms and the neck swivels. It appears sturdy and well-made. At $19.99 plus shipping, it's a tad pricey but I'll likely buy another as a collectible and not remove it from its box. Check it out.

SNL Showcases Hidden Talent

I saw this Saturday Night Live video on the Jailbreak Toys blog. It is creepy.

Who's that man in the beard? John McCain plays a stalker. Is he acting or just being himself? Check it out. He really wasn't that bad. Eeew!

Barack Obama Superhero Action Figure

In a move that will surely aggravate John McCain supporters even more; a New York toy company, Jailbreak Toys, has created a Barack Obama action figure along with other Obama items. No doubt McCain and Company will refer to this as idol worship so let's not give that point too much time and just move on.

Copy from the company's website says, "In many ways, Obama is the closest thing we've ever seen to a superhero... someone who has literally inspired millions of people simultaneously to step past fear, to be brave enough to hope and to go past cynicism and imagine what we could be if we were at our best. That's the stuff of legend!"

I'm going to check this out and give you a review of the product. In the meantime, you can go to the website and order one for yourself. A dollar will be donated to the Obama campaign for each action figure sold online. This is certain to be a collector's item.

Off Topic: Why can't I refer to this as an Obama doll? Oh, no, my guy friends said it's an action figure. I still say, get over it, it's a doll.

Is Jon Voight for real?

I just finished reading the op-ed piece in which actor Jon Voight, also known as Angelina Jolie's dad, slammed Senator Barack Obama. The first thing I thought as I read the incredible statements was, wow! Nothing more articulate…elaborate…definitive. Just wow.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but based on Voight's piece, one would think Obama is the second coming of the anti-Christ or Hitler or some other horrible historical figure. As I read I kept thinking…this guy must be kidding; it's all an act. How any supposedly intelligent person can string together such drivel is really beyond me.

Others in Hollywood have lashed back at Voight and now there's talk of blacklisting and an uprising of conservatives in the entertainment industry. Whatever.

Entertainment industry or not; voters should make their decision based on facts and not emotionalized blather.

There's No Taking Back the Mic from Soulfège

Soulfège (pronounced 'sOl-fezh) is a musical group whose sound is not easily categorized. They've been described as 'what would you get if Bob Marley were jammin' with The Fugees on a street corner in West Africa." How about Afropolitan fusion?

I'm not going to try to put them in any box. Let me just say straight up that these folks are going to force me to buy an iPod. I have an iPod for work and until now had not felt compelled to purchase one for my personal use. Soulfège has changed that. Their new digital album, "Take Back the Mic," is awesome. It's such a wonderfully funky soulful eclectic mix of music of the world. The vibe is upbeat, positive, and infectious.

Pick a song, any song. I can't decide which of their tunes from this album is my favorite. I love conscious lyrics over a tight beat. I love island music. I love percussion. "Take Back the Mic" brings all that and more.

Not only are the members of Soulfège brilliant musicians and lyricists, they are just brilliant. You may remember DNA from his viral YouTube video putting an interviewer in check when he was grilled about Barack Obama during the presidential primary; it's priceless. Band mates Kelley Nicole and Johnathan Gramling complete the magical musical team.

This group is awesome and so is this album. Check them out and spread the word about Soulfège. By the way, if you don't have iTunes you can still purchase the album by using Sound Station.

Remembering George Carlin

There are only a few comedians that have made me laugh and think. One of them is George Carlin. Here is a video of the first George Carlin routine that I remember. Don't press the play button on the video if you're offended by profanity.

There are other classic Carlin routines such as The Ten Commandments and the Seven Dirty Words. I have to smile when I think of him, Richard Pryor and Lenny Bruce holding court in the afterlife. It was sad learning of his transition yesterday but I'm glad to have witnessed his genius. May he rest in peace.

Dis-Respect in Media: Dog the Bounty Hunter to Return to A&E

Let's face it; it's no surprise that the bigwigs at A&E Network plan to return Dog the Bounty Hunter to its line-up in a few days. After Duane "Dog" Chapman displayed such racist disdain for black people by referring to his son's black girlfriend as a ni**er and proceeded to use the vile term with such hate several times during a recorded conversation.

The foolishness was exposed last fall and the network suspended production. I guess the shelf life of black folks anger about the situation has expired in the minds of the network brass at A&E. It seems they think all is well and black folks have forgotten. Think again.

Here's a reminder of what Duane "Dog" Chapman said. WARNING: The audio is uncensored.

Although Dog went on his expected apology tour --- think Trent Lott, Michael Richards and Don Imus; that's not enough to erase what he did. Are blacks just expected to accept every apology by a celebrity caught in the act? I don't think so. The folks at A&E should be ashamed of themselves but they're not. It's all about the dollar and Dog brings them big bucks.

HBO’s ‘Recount’ Must Be a Great Movie Because It Pisses off the Republicans and the Democrats

I can hardly wait for HBO's broadcast of the movie 'Recount'. It's the story of the infamous 2000 U.S. presidential election that was literally stolen from the Dumbocrats by the Rethuglicans in Florida.

The movie trailers have been particularly interesting with eerily similar physical likeness of former Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris by Laura Dern. Critics claim that Dern's portrayal of Harris is much like a skit from Saturday Night Live. If anyone thinks that will stop me from watching the movie ---how wrong they are. Hah!

I'm also a huge Kevin Spacey fan and look forward to watching him the role of Ron Klain, Al Gore's Chief of Staff. I'm also a Florida voter who still doesn't really know if her vote actually counted or not. You can read more about the movie at the HBO website.

I can tell you that I'll watch the movie Sunday night and likely watch it several times when it's re-broadcast. Hanging chads…pregnant chads…Bush-whacked uncounted ballots in Florida…Holler back and let us know what you think of the movie.

And Hillary Clinton supporters wanted a re-vote of this year's Florida primary by mail? I don't think so.

It’s time for Britney-free news. Pray for her and leave her alone.

It's time to pray for Britney Spears. That's not a joke; I really mean that. Whatever lead to her being strapped to a gurney and wheeled from her home cannot be pretty.

I am not a Britney Spears fan but this is another train wrecked life of a celebrity that manages to monopolize the media. You know what? I'm really sick of the media broadcasting it…printing it…talking about it.

This child; yes, she's a child to me, was idolized by the media then criticized by the media. It's the old build 'em up and tear'em down syndrome. Sure, she's made millions through her celebrity but in the end what does that mean other than better seats at a restaurant? This child is a mother now; she's lost her kids and she's in pain. I don't want to watch this.

Yeah, she was panty less, shaved her head, has been partying and gave that uncharacteristically horrible performance but enough is enough already. Brit's lawyers have quit on her, she's been late for court and not following the judge's orders. That's not a cry for help, it's a downright scream.

Only Britney can really save Britney at this point. Has she hit bottom? What does she want to do with her life? Why is she non-compliant with the judge's orders? I think she just doesn't know how to cope as an adult. It's a sad situation. I don't care to know any details about Britney's latest derailment. I'd prefer the real news about what's happening in America and throughout the world.

Britney's breakdown was reported during CNN news and now she's the topic on Larry King. I'm changing the channel. Let's leave Britney alone and pray that she comes to her senses so she can save herself.
