The Brubakers First Dance as Husband and Wife

A friend sent that to me and I had to share it with you. I'm old school so the marriage ceremony is sacred. I really tried not to laugh at the video but it was too funny. Hopefully choreographed first dances don't become the rage because you know some folks will get out of hand.

Too late....

I'm sure my parents would not have seen the humor in any of that and my wedding director would have fainted. It's still funny though.

And these people are out of control...

Happy Saturday!

Rest in Peace, Dr. Donda West

Much has been said and written about the sudden death of Dr. Donda West, mother of Kanye. I can only imagine the emotional turmoil that challenges him as he was very close to his mother. I am confident that Kanye will overcome this situation in the style that his mother would have wanted. Dr. Jan Adams, the physician that performed the cosmetic surgeries, will likely not escape penalty. I won't recount his various indiscretions but let's just say that Kanye will likely use all of his resources to assure that Adams is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Several questions have been posed as to the extent that Dr. West employed any effort to confirm the status of Adams' medical license. This case will be around for a couple of years.

In the meantime, women must re-evaluate the necessity in undergoing plastic surgery. Personally, I think Dr. West looked great. But what I think didn't matter in her world. We must stop allowing a few people in the world to determine who is considered beautiful and who is not.

If I could, I'd give Kanye a hug and just let him work through his grief the way he feels is best. Just don't let his mom's death be in vain. Unless you are disfigured, please reconsider the need for surgery. Check your physician's credentials whether you have a serious medical condition or not.

Rest in Peace, Dr. Donda West. Ashe'.

Why Did I Get Married is Good for the Soul

It's the weekend, baby! Have some fun and go see Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married I know I saw it twice last weekend and you know what, I think I'll see it again. I don't know if it's the storyline or all the hotness in the movie or what? Let me just be honest, OK?

Anyhoo, on a serious tip, Why Did I Get Married is a great opportunity to laugh, cry and for a reality check. That's what Tyler Perry movies tend to do. Perry uses the movie to preach…teach…send a message. That's what his movies are all about; if you don't like that formula, don't see the movie. The truth be told, most of us need those messages big time. I saw myself and my friends, at different points in our lives, in all of the characters. No, I'm not saying which characters or friends.

Some of the problems in the relationships between the couples seem too unreal but then I guess some folks may go through some craziness in their married lives. No doubt, Jill Scott and Tasha Smith steal the movie. Scott does a commendable job of portraying the down-trodden, Sheila. Tasha Smith played the role of Angela, the angry black woman. I dug the character in the honest moments but I am getting so sick and tired of that angry black woman character. It's hardly conceivable that a woman with such attitude could be the owner of a successful hair salon but maybe I'm the only one that feels that way.

Over all the acting was decent. The characters could have used more development to justify some of the emotional extremes and explain their actions.

Now, let me get a tad shallow…I was so feeling the wardrobe of the women, especially Janet's. Those shoes and handbags had me practically drooling --- yes, I have my weaknesses and I'm dealing with them. I even loved the furs, faux or not. Michael Jai White in his boxers on the television screen is one thing but to see him on the big screen was breathtaking. I don't care what role he plays, he will always be Spawn to me. I did not expect Lamman Rucker to be so gorgeous. Warning to women, it's just a movie. Let's not make ourselves crazy expecting Sheriff Troy to come to our rescue.

And another thing, if you can't find a babysitter, leave your children at home. The characters on the movie screen can't hear you, so why talk to them? I just don't get it. Laughing out loud is one thing, but a conversation is something else.

Let me just touch a couple of points before I end this post. The cast of this movie is mostly black but I encourage white people to see it also. The problems the couples face are universal and you can learn from the movie also. Brothers, go see the movie with your wives, girlfriends, etc. You'll enjoy the laughs and hopefully your relationships will be strengthened.

Rap for Geeks: Who You Reppin’?

I bit this video from Christy's Coffee Break; it's the most hilarious video I've seen in quite some time. Check it out.

"Mac Or PC" Rap Music Video - Mac Vs PC - The most popular videos are here

You may try not to like this but you know the beat is infectious and it's funny. Who you reppin'? Mac or PC?

For those of us with absolutely no shame, here are the lyrics.

Lyrics:

Oooh, Mac or PC

Oooh, Mac or PC

Oooh, Mac or PC

Uh, I'm a right-clicka
I'm an iBook flippa
Macs and PCs - no fight gets bigga
Surf Safari or browse in I.E.
Better know what you rep(resent) - a Mac or PC!

USB 1-2.0, son, you don't know
watch my data flow
From MS-DOS command line prompts
Black backgrounds, no special sauce
Well I've only been around since '84
But my ease of use has done so much more
From a Plus to a Classic to a II GS
To a PowerPC, my OS is the best
So clickable, design is lickable
My aqua interface makes XP despicable
Quick I pull the RAM stick out the slot
Then I swap it with generic
cause the port is hot

If you see life through an LCD
Betta know your brand is it Mac-or-PC?

I'm a right-clicka
I'm an iBook flippa
Macs and PCs - no fight gets bigga
Surf Safari or browse in I.E.
Better know what you rep(resent) - a Mac or PC!

Take a look at Vista
enjoy the view
I suggest Premium or the Ultimate skew
cop a Dell with a graphics card - super fast
turn the arrow on and lick the glass
Tiger's fast as hell
But Leopard's got the boom
Time machine is mad mean
you're absurd - what's a zune?
Middle name: innovate
All features integrate
Now stay the hell out of my developers' conferences!
Nonsenses - I'm networking
You're not working
Stop staring at your built-in webcam
YouTube surfing
Ha! 1,000 views is pretty fresh
ComputerGal36 even says I'm the best

He is the best with his videos
And cuts them all on a Final Cut Pro

I'm a right-clicka
I'm an iBook flippa
Macs and PCs - no fight gets bigga
Surf Safari or browse in I.E.
Better know what you rep(resent) - a Mac or PC!

Mac, PC, and Me, At Last

Mac, PC, and Me, At Last

[dance sequence]

When I run IT'S A iPOD!
Talk IT'S AN iPHONE!
Stuff I gotta have no matter what
It's an iLOAN!
I want an Intel, plus CS3,
but for now I'm streamin keynotes in bed listenin to Steve
Uh! Compatibility
Everybody fits with me
All the applications wanna get with my virility
At any time
Yo, it might go off
And you can ride it
Til it's Micro-Soft
Huh! Pay attention
I got a new invention
Steal your next idea
At the MacWorld Convention
But guess what
You'll always be behind
Cuz Mac is a state of mind

I'm a right-clicka
I'm an iBook flippa
Macs and PCs - no fight gets bigga
Surf Safari or browse in I.E.
Better know what you rep(resent) - a Mac or PC!

In my Mac and PC, Oh!

Hey, My Mac or PC

MTV VMAs 2007: Exploiting Britney

I didn't watch the VMAs but it must have been rather boring since the only portion that's really getting airplay or comment is Britney Spears' horrendous opening act performance. Let me tell you, I feel so bad for her. She was so not ready for that performance that MTV really should have pulled her. I don't enjoy watching train wrecks or car crashes but apparently so many people do.

Kanye West threw a temper tantrum after the show. Initially, I thought he was just being spoiled and egotistical but he made some very valid points about exploitation and the entertainment industry.

Britney Spears' performance was definitely a reminder of how cruel the game is. Not only was her performance horrible but she looked horrible from costume to hair. What was most disturbing was her lack of confidence. It showed in her eyes. That young woman is in pain. Even if she's made a gazillion dollars, and more than a few mistakes, watching her tank like that is not enjoyable. Somebody or a few somebodies in her camp need to be fired for letting her humiliate herself like that.

Comedian Sarah Silverman's routine only added to the sacrificial nature of the evening. To crack on Britney is one thing but to bring her kids in the act and refer to them as "mistakes" crosses the line.

I am not a Britney Spears fan but I do give her credit for being an excellent performer. Prayerfully she'll bounce back from this although many in the media have already buried her career. Perhaps, her VMA performance is watch Britney Spears needs to force her to make a choice --- get out of the entertainment game or work like hell to stage an awesome comeback.

Although Britney is an adult, it's time for those who really love her to intervene. Britney can come back from this. As much as Americans love watching train wrecks and car crashes, they also love comebacks. Please let the real Britney come back.

Remembering Luciano Pavarotti

Opera star Luciano Pavarotti has died. He is highly regarded as one of the greatest opera stars of all time. Pavarotti was an opera superstar. I've re-posted a video of one of my favorite Pavarotti performances; it's a collaboration with James Brown. Enjoy.

Opera great Pavarotti dead at 71

ROME (AFP) — Operatic legend Luciano Pavarotti, whose showmanship and crossover celebrity turned him into a global superstar, died Thursday at his home in northern Italy at the age of 71.

Hailed by many as the greatest tenor of his generation, Pavarotti passed away during the night at his villa near the city of Modena after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

The mayor of Modena, Giorgio Pighi, said Pavarotti, who underwent surgery for cancer in July, 2006, had died shortly before 5:00am (0300 GMT).

Police established a security cordon in front of the villa to keep in line those who had already gathered to pay their respects.

Pavarotti -- known in his prime for the clarity of his voice and ability to hit high Cs with ease -- broke into the opera world when he won a competition in 1961.

He went on to perform across Europe before crossing the Atlantic in February 1965 for a production of Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor" in Miami, co-starring famed Australian soprano Joan Sutherland as Lucia.

It was with Sutherland in February 1972 that Pavarotti truly came of age, taking Covent Garden and the New York Metropolitan Opera by storm with a sparkling production of a Donizetti favourite, "La Fille du Regiment". [Continued]

The Anna Nicole Smith Saga Continues with Release of Book; Stern and Birkhead were Lovers?

Wow, just when you thought the Anna Nicole Smith scandal was over and done, now there are allegations that the two men closest to her, companion Howard Stern and baby daddy Larry Birkhead were actually homosexual lovers. [Insert screeching brakes sound here.] Huh? What's next with these folks?

Veteran journalist Rita Crosby has written a book, Blonde Ambition: The Untold Story Behind Anna Nicole Smith's Death, detailing not only the two men caught in the act but also other sordid tales of Anna Nicole's life. It's a shame. If ever there was an example of money not buying happiness, this is it.

Smith supposedly watched a video of the two men involved in sex with each other. The book also alleges Smith chose Birkhead to father her child because she wanted a blonde-haired, blue-eyed baby. I mean dang, how trashy could these people possibly be?

Surely, Rita Crosby will make a truckload of money as the book will be a best-seller and she'll certainly do a run of the talk shows. After all is said and done, what happens to little Dannielyn? The book and possible baby daddy drama hoax is so disgusting.

Birkhead has threatened to sue --- surprise, surprise. Since the OK magazine cover shoot tanked, I guess the next episode in the drama will be the release of the sex tapes of Stern and Birkhead. Let Anna Nicole rest in peace and give her daughter an opportunity for as normal a life as possible.

Feel Good Friday Video: Florida A&M University Marching 100 playing Duckmouth drum cadence

It's college football season and I'm psyched because I'll get to see my alma mater's marching band perform. Now, if you've not heard of the FAMU Marching 100, there's way too much for me to share on this page. I'll post some links for you to check out at the end of this post.

The video is of the percussion section playing the cadence titled "Duckmouth." I don't know the year or the location of this particular performance but I did learn that the cadence is played by many marching bands throughout the nation. That is largely due to the expansive network and influence of the Marching 100.

For a little Marching 100 trivia, you should know that "Duckmouth" is a memorial cadnce written for a band member who died in 1995. It is my understanding that there are cadences for other members.

Miss South Carolina Teen USA has a “Blonde” moment

I feel worse for Miss South Carolina Teen USA, Lauren Caitlin Upton, than I did when Miss USA, Rachel Smith, fell in the Miss Universe pageant. This is a true "blonde" moment that will surely be parodied by comedians everywhere.

I hope she has thick skin because she's going to need it. If she's really smart, she'll parlay this debacle into a few talk show visits, televison and movie roles, etc.; she may as well use it to her advantage.

Here's her response when she was asked the question "Recent polls have shown a fifth of Americans can't locate the U.S. on a world map. Why do you think this is?"
